SCHOOL COUNSELING

The school counseling program at Poplar Middle School is designed to provide assistance to address immediate needs of  students. Opportunities for ALL STUDENTS to develop physical/emotional health and positive communication skills are emphasized as well as the development of positive study skills (including cyber citizenship) and career exploration. The goal is to help ensure that students proceed through school better prepared to pursue their goals upon graduation.

YOUTH VIOLENCE PREVENTION WEEK
APRIL 25-29, 2022

National Youth Violence Prevention Week is about highlighting activities and projects that promote kindness and respect, inclusiveness, and the value of looking out for one another to help make our schools and communities safer for everyone.

WHERE ARE YOU ON THE ASSERTIVENESS SCALE?

If we are too passive, we tend to carry around our hurt feelings. If we are too aggressive, we intensify angry feelings that can get out of hand. Assertiveness is about calmly and confidently speaking up for ourselves in a way that helps in our dealings with other people and ability to effectively solve problems.

POWER UP SPEAK OUT

Power Up Speak Out is a program developed in Montana that helps middle school students think critically about healthy relationships, power dynamics, boundaries and consent. Instead of focusing on what not to do, these lessons are about what to do.
